EDA and Codex
With various spear attacks this skill is able to shut down multiple physical classes very easily. In itself this is not the entire issue, assuming that there are viable counters to such a build.
What is the major issue is the number of viable counters to such a skill. These are limited to basically Rend or your own source of blind. Given the extremely limited nature of Codex it is very unlikely you will actually receive these counters on any given day, yet the chance of EDA being present is about 33%. Even if it appears alongside only mediocre spear attacks this results in very spammable physical shutdown, often with no real counter.
I understand that the nature of Codex will eliminate this problem on it's own at the end of this day, but such a degenerate, powerful, uncounterable skill should not frequent the deck as often as once every three days. It will make for generally unfun metagames on it's appearance days, particularly if caster bars are crappy.
Suggestion: Melee attacks only. A more ideal solution would be to implement proposed change and drop the number of Nightfall profession elites to 3, so we don't have filth like WS and EDA clogging up the arena every third day.
Edit: Actually I lie. Assault enchantments and signet of twilight were both present today. However, the first is useless against EDA for fairly obvious reasons. The second isn't incredibly viable either, due to the fact that packing enough hexes to dig down to EDA means you probably aren't running physicals in the first place.

EDA has needed a nerf for a while, it's underused (fortunately) but very OP.

Between your D/P blinding them and mend condition, it's not that hard to get the first chain started. Once you do, you'll never be blinded again.
Still I can see it being a long-term problem on days with less counters.

Would go from semi used to never used. Then the derv is susceptible to cripple and will never blind anything.
Leave as is, bring assault enchants or run more casters.

If it's going to be consistently OP every time it appears, then yes. Skills which are only overpowered on one given day in every hundred I don't really care about.

As we're in Sardelac, we also have to complain about SF in every other thread.
No, each of the threads actually.
SF sucks.
You may now continue bashing EDA.

Take a mesmer, drain and reveal his enchantments, then use it against him with your earth spear and laugh while he waits on recharge.

i agree that in tonight's codex, EDA was king, but it was only under the circumstance, what would've happened if monks got RC in the codex?
protip: run a mindshock ele with heal other, mend condition, cripslash war and assault enchants assasin, and blessed light monk, i didnt have any probs.
@poster above me: EDA dervishes were using vital boon and mystic regen to cover the enchant, that's not gonna work.

Ebon Dust Aura:
Elite Enchantment Spell. For 5...29...35 seconds, if you are wielding an earth weapon, your attack Skills also cause Blindness for 4...9...10 seconds.
Because mesmers pack attack skills, right?

Isn't it ironic how they'll be more threads about nerfing and balance with an apparently balanced format.

Ow well, the thing about striping it with a mesmer is still true, but the using it against them, was a oversight from me.
It doesn't matter if they have vital and mystic, most of them were too stupid to cover it up properly.
Today however they are insane,we only have strip enchantment and that isnt really that usefull :/

Anyone arguing that the format is imbalanced on any given day is for the most part stupid, unless the reason they claim it is imbalanced occurs on such a frequency that parallels this one. EDA is going to be shitting up Codex likely every third day. We did have some semi-decent strips available, but this is going to appear far more often than any viable deep strips are. And even some of said deep strips have issues with covers, especially the number of covers present the last two days.
Random aside; is vital boon a freebie?

Pretty sure most classes get self-heal freebie
Heal Sig
Troll
Aura Resto
Ether Feast
Blood Renewal
Shadow Refuge
Leader's Comfort
Vital Boon
Monk/Rit don't seem to have any freebies. Should give them healing touch/generous was tsungrai.

Yeah, was pretty sure on the above. That makes EDA even more stupid on it's given days, since you get an autocover. =/

Are you sure that skills should be balanced around a 4v4 format with limited skills and even more limited ways to deal with them?
